Our programming is focused on building safe, vibrant, and flourishing communities across Oklahoma.

COMMUNITY BUILDING

Programs

  • Cultivating a network of transformative justice practitioners and partners to achieve community safety.

  • Building people power on the Eastside of Oklahoma City by organizing partner organizations and community members.

Our community organizing encompasses specific campaigns we engage in various capacities from lead coordinating roles, to support and solidarity role.

  • 1 in 2 Campaign liberating the narrative of Oklahoma’s carceral state through storytelling that centers redemption, accountability, repair, and empathy. 1 in 2 is an original project of FLM.

  • Home Base–creating a political home for all those interested in rejecting the carceral state and building safe communities. FLM plays a coordinating role in this formation.

You can learn more on the Home Base website.

  • Survivor Justice Coalition – working to free all criminalized survivors, FLM helped to pass the Survivor Justice Bill in 2024, a reform to provide sentence relief for incarcerated survivors of gendered violence. We come to this coalition from our coordination of Against Carceral Feminism OK.

  • Death Penalty Abolition – working towards a moratorium on the path to full abolition of the death penalty in Oklahoma FLM engages in a statewide coalition to do just that. We follow the lead of our partner organizations, leading the way on this issue like the Julius Jones Institute, BLM OKC, OKCADP, and ACLU OK.

SAFE Commune is a transformative justice (TJ) project building a network of TJ practitioners to intervene and respond to harm and violence in our community. TJ is a survivor-centered and community-based process to address harm or violence through a rigorous process focused on safety and accountability rather than punishment.
